April 2010 / I spent more time this year painting in the studio, it felt really great. My son is in Kindergarten this year so I have had more time to myself. I have also been busy working on developing my non-profit business; the TARNOFF ART CENTER, which has been challenging so far, but good. The best news is that the local school district in Pecos, NM is working in partnership with us to create and afterschool and summer program for local kids out at the studio / art center! We have been busy raising money and applying for grants, which haven't worked out yet, but we are hopeful they will soon. With limited funding we are going ahead with a full day 3 week summer art camp with 30+ teens this June. It is my hope that just getting things going will help us with donations and grants. I will upload pictures of the camp this summer.. In the meantime- I will paint when I can, although I will be busy with the school...stay tuned...
May 2009 / I'm back in the studio- rolling up my sleeves and digging in! I'm excited to really get into my painting right now and plan on spending the summer playing with my son Sammy, swimming, and Painting!! So I will continually post art in progress. As things progress I will post photos in process of my work as it is developing every few weeks... check back to see what is happening!!
Winter and Spring 2008 -2009
Well, it's been a long and fun winter and spring for me and family;
Some things...
We went Savannah Georgia in September, to see my brother Todd; who thankfully came back safely from serving 16 months overseas in Iraq....
Then off to Chicago for Thanksgiving, and beautiful holidays at home in Santa Fe.
A few art shows, the Ex Ex IV Exhibition at Parkway Art Space in Santa Fe, An art show in the "Untrained Boxcar Gallery" here in Santa Fe, and Most recently a two person show in Denver at The Muse Project Gallery.
Other than that- I have been teaching after school at the Pecos Middle school in Pecos NM, (Which by the way has no art program or electives for that matter), in either the middle or high school- so the kids are pretty starved for art for sure...I don't think I will keep it up for long unless they can gather a steady group of students for me, we will see......
I am also gearing up for a show in the fall at the Parkway Art Space, here in Santa Fe. So, I plan on focusing quite a bit on painting this summer. Updates and photos will follow...
Fall 2008 Pecos studio Tour... SMASHING SUCCESS!!!
The Pecos studio tour was a smashing success for sure! We sold artwork, made some new friends and had a great time!!
Summer 2008
It was a very busy summer! It started out with a trip to South Dakota....
And then a trip to Utah....
And also... alot of swimming at the pool, a quick visit to California to see our cousins and another trip to Savannah, Georgia to see my brother Todd who just got back from 16 months in Iraq! Glad he's home!
Obviously I wasn't concentrating too much on my art...I will be getting very productive in the studio soon. With summer over and my son Sammy back in school- I should become much more focused! Right now I am busy getting ready for the Pecos Studio Tour. It should be alot of fun! My Artist friends Matanada Ben-Shmuel and Leah Saulnier are also showing at my studio with me. I will take a bunch a photos and stick them up here on the website! Check back soon for updates...
Winter / Spring 2008
My biggest news is that I have completed out a full classroom / studio in Rowe, NM out at my Father's place. It's about 25 miles north of Santa Fe, right down I25, (pretty easy to get to). There are many more trees out there and it is quite rural (and beautiful). The property is located only about 5 miles away from the Pecos National Monument, which is an ancient abandoned Pueblo village. Many neighbors have found artifacts and the remains of dwellings nearby, this, I think, makes for an added specialness to the studio and land. Our property is 10 acres which will allow for us to expand the school a bit in the near future. But first, we are simply trying to get a workshop schedule worked out and regular classes going for locals. If things should work, then we will think about expanding. So here are some pictures of my artist friends working in the new space...
Recently, I have also been painting more regularly. I had a very slow period for about the last 4 years since moving to New Mexico. Shortly after we moved here, we had our son Sammy Lou, who has really required most of my creative energy. (which I have been happy to give to him). I also lost my Mother Anne, in February of 2007, so my own personal adjusting and the family adjustments with that, have also occupied me. But, with the new studio together, and some support from friends and fellow artists, I have been painting more regularly lately. I had Art representation for about 6 months at Pop Gallery, here in Santa Fe, but have recently lost that situation. So, I am once again seeking gallery representation if anyone should be interested. That's about it, you can check back here for updates once in a while, you never know, I may have something new happening....
Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, I head out to the studio in Rowe to paint and I have some friends that oftentimes come and paint with me, I thought I would include some links to their websites in case anyone would be interested in seeing their work ...
